Description
Original mixed media on museum board with acrylic, enamel, found objects and 1984 20c Carter G. Woodson stamp # 2073. Issued in Washington DC on February 1st, the commemorative issue honors the "Father of Black History." Woodson (1875-1950) overcame economic and social barriers to become the person most responsible for researching, writing, and teaching about the heritage of African Americans. In 1926, Woodson pioneered the acknowledgment of the second week in February as " Negro History Week. Today, the celebration has been extended throughout the entire month and February is known as Black History Month. This work is unframed.
